ZA Hops isn’t just passionate about craft beer, it is obsessed! After being exposed to craft beer in the late 1980s in Northern California, starting homebrewing in 1993 and traveling the world in pursuit of more beer adventures, owner Greg Crum became obsessed with hops after working a season at Birkshire Hops Limited, near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, England in 1993. That obsession eventually led to cofounding Devils Peak Brewing Company in Cape Town, South Africa, and independently working with SAB Hop Farms (Pty) Limited, located near George, South Africa, to develop an export market for their unique South African aromatic hops. He began importing and distributing South African hops in the US in 2012 under his Furthur Brewing brand and has been growing awareness of these hops since. He continues to work with SAB Hop Farms (Pty) Limited to increase hop acreage for increased supplies for the US craft brewers. In addition to his interest in hops, Greg Crum is a professional brewer, BJCP Certified beer judge, and brewing consultant.
